POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Program Manager in this highly visible educational effort that shares the excitement and wonder of the natural and engineered world with hundreds of thousands of Museum visitors each year. The Coordinator will collaborate with the two staff, several interns and dozens of volunteers in the Exhibit Interpretation program to create enjoyable interactions for small groups of visitors throughout the Museum´s galleries, including our periodic traveling exhibitions. This front-line educator position will help develop hands-on, visitor directed activities in a wide variety of science, technology and engineering topics - including leading briefing sessions for our volunteer interpreters that enable them to become familiar and comfortable with these activities. The Coordinator´s time will be split between supporting our dedicated corps of volunteer interpreters and directly serving the Museum´s visitors by participating in educational efforts in our galleries.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Coordinator will work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule, 9am-5pm, and on occasional holidays.
Qualifications of the Candidate
Must enjoy daily interactions with people who love science and technology
Must be self motivated to create original and highly enjoyable hands-on experiences in science, technology and engineering that can be shared with Museum visitors
Ability to multitask thousands of activities simultaneously
Must love learning and teaching about all domains of science, technology and engineering
1-3 years experience in a creative field
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team of people working towards a common goal
